Workshop Description

Bruce Kauffman’s ‘intuitive writing’ workshop, developed in 2012, is based on his explorations and observations about his own writing, “… concepts developed in the early 90’s as I watched in my own creative process then, the substance and style of how and what I was writing began to change.”

This workshop is designed with less a 'how to write well' and more a 'why and from where should I write' mindset. It was even billed once, by a Queen's campus student writing group, as a guide to overcome writer's block.

This workshop is open to anyone ages 13 to 30.

Bruce Kauffman lives in Kingston and is a local poet and editor. His written work has appeared in several anthologies and journals, two chapbooks, and four collections of poetry. Beyond writing, he organizes occasional launch or reading events and facilitates intuitive writing workshops. He founded, and still organizes and hosts the monthly ‘and the journey continues’ open mic reading series and two annual festivals: a summer multiday Poets @ Artfest poetry festival, and an autumn Kingston tie to the global 100 Thousand Poets for Change series. He also produces and hosts his weekly spoken word radio show, ‘finding a voice’, on CFRC 101.9fm.

What is Juvenis? The Juvenis Festival is a project of Blue Canoe Theatrical that began in 2016. Juvenis is Kingston's Youth Arts Festival, one of only two youth arts festivals in all of Canada! Juvenis showcases the talented #ygkyouth ages 30 and under. This 11-day festival gives young people an opportunity to act, sing, dance, perform, and showcase their artistic talents, as well as take free workshops and masterclasses to build on their interests and skills in the arts. http://www.juvenisfestival.ca/
