The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning is currently seeking a dynamic inividual with strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills to assist with program development and implementation in our arts focused environment. Job Title: Summer Programming Assistant 
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Start Date: July 12th, 2021
Term of Employment: 9 weeks
Salary: $16.00 per hour

Job Description

This successful candidate chosen for this position will help plan, prepare, and execute Summer Programming at the Tett Centre including: 

  • on-site and virtual arts programming for families

  • the adult education “Creativity Series” 

  • upcoming Ontario Culture Days plans

  • weekly tours for visitors  tourists (when possible under Covid-19 restrictions)

  • and our virtual Arts in August camp for children 8-13 years old. 

This individual will also help with new initiatives for not-yet-reached community members.

Working under the direct supervision of Director, Nadine Baker, and with Program and Communication Coordinator, Brianne Franklin, this individual will assist the Tett Centre Staff to provide programming in our arts focused environment in order to connect people and nurture a deeper understanding of the arts and cultural scene in Kingston Ontario. 

Other responsibilities will include:

  • liaising with our resident artists and arts organization

  • organizing and executing the filming and digital sharing of programming and events for the community 

This individual will represent the Tett Centre for welcoming tourists to our heritage building and will be expected to learn the history of the building in order to share with visitors. 

(Covid-19 restrictions may impact some responsibilities.)

Job Requirements


Education Level 

  •  Post-Secondary 


Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Able to work independently and as an effective team member in a cooperative manner with all members of staff, resident organization members, resident artists, and volunteers

  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational skills 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office desktop applications 

  • An artistic flair and experience in arts program creation

  • Current knowledge of and sensitivity to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity for the Arts and Culture Sector

  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment

  • Knowledge of video conferencing programs (eg. Zoom, Google Team) 

  • Experience with some technical equipment required for virtual delivery of programming

  • High level of competence in customer service and engaging with the public

Calling all artists, creatives, and art educators! Do you have workshop ideas for the Tett Centre’s upcoming 2021 programming? We are looking for unique programs, not running anywhere else in the city. 

This opportunity is open to artists working is ALL disciplines, who have experience teaching to people of various ages and abilities and welcome the opportunity to explore the arts with diverse groups. The Creativity Series workshops are offered to participants ages 16 and up, who want to discover new mediums, learn new skills, and develop their ideas.

Applicants must have previous teaching experience, and produce individual work that shows mastery of technique or medium. Please email Brianne at arts@tettcentre.org for an application. Thank you.

Kids Creativity Club is a Saturday morning drop-in art program at the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning. It is an opportunity for children and their families to experience the arts together. Each week participants can enjoy a variety of hands-on, creative arts activities with local artists and volunteers. Come and explore, create, and be inspired at the Tett!

Kids Creativity Club runs September - May | Saturday's 10am-12pm

Are you enthusiastic about the arts and looking for a way to be more integrated and involved in the Kingston arts community? Are you looking to expand your resume, meet new people, or fulfill your 40 hours of community service hours to graduate? We invite you to join our friendly and dedicated team!

The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning is alive with excitement and we need your help! We have an ongoing need for year around volunteers to greet our guests, help with registration, assist with programming and workshops and more. We require passionate volunteers for a variety of upcoming events including: 

  • Arts at the Tett Summer Camp - August
  • Culture Days - September 
  • PA Days - Fridays
  • Kids Creativity Club - Saturday Mornings
  • Tett Tuesday - Monthly
  • Family Day - Spring

Special Event Hosts and Greeters

  • this is a customer service position providing information and direction to the public
  • welcome guests and collect donations at the door for various events
  • assist with program registration

Capacity Monitors

  • monitor and control building capacity in collaboration with Floor Coordinators

Workshop Assistant

  • provide support to Tett art educators and artists during various workshops
  • help set up, maintain, and clean up the studio space
  • welcome, register, and assist students throughout each event
  • manage art materials
  • photography for events

Tett Tour Guide

  • become a Tett expert
  • enjoy touring locals, visitors from around the world, and school groups around the Tett Centre
