Culture Days at the Tett: A Day of Art & Creativity

Join us at the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning for a building-wide celebration of Culture Days! On Saturday, September 26, explore arts, creativity, and community throughout the Tett, with activities taking place both inside and outside the building.

Try your hand at a family-friendly plein air art activity led by Harvey Doniego, and drop into the Malting Tower for Afro Dance with Edem Abbeyquaye, featuring Afrobeat music and low-barrier, easy-to-follow movements that everyone can pick up and enjoy together.

Kingston Pop Choir: A Tragically Hip Tribute with Members of Road Apples

Come "let your heart all out" at this special Tragically Hip community singing workshop with members of Kingston's very own Road Apples! All voices, ages and levels are welcome!

Visible Mending with Pixels

Curious about giving worn clothing a new life through visible mending? Join Tett Artist-in-Residence Lee Jones for a hands-on workshop exploring the connections between textiles, weaving, and computing.

Participants will learn how to read and translate weaving patterns into decorative woven patches that can be used to repair and personalize clothing and other textiles. Lee will introduce the historical relationship between weaving and computing and demonstrate how digital weaving tools can be used to design your own visible mending patterns.

Kids Creativity Club

Kids Creativity Club is a drop in artmaking program at the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning catered towards families with children aged 10 and under. Participants enjoy a variety of hands-on creative arts activities with local artists and volunteers. Come and explore, create, and be inspired at Tett Centre!

Escape to the Safe Zone [Exhibition]

Escape to the Safe Zone critically investigates the intricate interplay between natural and sociocultural systems via animal/human relationships. Leisa Rich integrates traditional, reclaimed textiles and historical fibre processes with the advanced technologies of 3D printing, laser cutting/engraving and AI. Safe Zone is a conceptual sanctuary amid pervasive environmental and societal precarity, compelling viewers to transcend passive spectatorship and actively interrogate notions of protection, vulnerability, and interdependence.
