LARGE CANVAS 2-Day URBAN SCENE Acrylic Painting Workshop

Join Michelle for this two-day workshop in a small group size to learn her approach to creating a large urban scene of your choice. Your favourite restaurant, home, cottage... any place that inspires you. We will use tracers to enlarge your scene onto the canvas so there's no drawing required. Participants will be painting on 30x40" canvases with acrylic paint, all materials are included. The class size is limited to eight students to allow for plenty of one-on-one coaching. Beginners welcome!

Demos will focus on the importance of composition, value, colour and using large brush strokes to evoke a spirited finished piece of art.

About Michelle Reid

Distinctive and Bold: Michelle Reid is a Creativity Studio Artist at Kingston's Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning. Her oil paintings are a contemporary approach to post-impressionism that will spark emotional memories of catching the perfect light in familiar places. She deconstructs a scene into bold and confident brushstrokes grounded in the drama between light, shadow and saturated colours that shine so bright it will make you reach for your sunglasses!

Artist Statement: For me, living a passionate life through art is the greatest creation. The chase of new reference material fuels my sense of outdoor adventure, the adventure feeds my spirit and connects me to the earth, and the support of collectors keep it all going. This symbiotic relationship is the springboard to capture the spirit and excitement of places in hopes of inspiring happiness, hope and joy.
