For the Love of Blue: A 2-Day Indigo Dyeing workshop with Bethany Garner
Join textile artist Bethany Garner on Saturday, July 30th & Sunday, July 31, 2022, as she shares her indigo dyeing skills and samples. This TWO-DAY workshop will focus on ‘easy to use at home’ bucket-dyeing methods that everyone can learn to use and on design play for original art, using hand/machine stitch. The goal for our classroom sharing is that you will leave with the skills after our time together for further exploration with Indigo.
On Saturday, students will spend the full day folding, wrapping, clamping and stitching, and learning immersion dyeing with INDIGO Natural Dye vats. This class is designed to share multiple techniques that will delight and stimulate creativity and will result in a beautiful collection of hand dyed fabric for you to work with both in our class and after our weekend together.
On Sunday, students will create a small art quilt project of their choice with the yardage that they dyed in the classroom on Saturday.
A suggested supply list will be emailed to students after their registration has been confirmed. Please bring your cotton or silk fabrics, a table cover for "Dye Day", your sewing machine and favourite stitch-related supplies and tools (i.e., a rotary cutter/mat and rulers, threads and scissors).
Open to attendees ages 18+ and older. All levels of ability are welcome.
