Artist Talk with Bethany Garner

Frontenac County Quilts: Heritage Quilts and Quilters

March 26, 11AM-1PM in the Malting Tower

11AM-12PM: Artist talk

12PM-1PM: Quilt shares: Q&A and assessment with Beth (optional)

Join us for an artist talk with Bethany Garner exploring Frontenac County quilts!

Creativity Studio Artist Bethany Garner will share a lovely collection of vintage quilts acquired during visits to Frontenac County farms and homesteads over 30 years. Most of the quilts were handmade and thus have imperfections, and each has an individual story. These quilts have a place in our region’s history that lives on as collectors research and study the makers and their designs.

Bethany will discuss the Eastern Ontario Quilt Documentation Project and invites community members to bring a quilt of their own to share. Following the artist talk (from 12PM onwards), Beth will devote time to discuss care, conservation, and possibilities for restoration with local Guilds and individuals. If you’ve got a vintage quilt, be sure to bring it with you to this event!
