Join us for an exciting opportunity to take a needle felting workshop with Steven Botelho and create your own lifelike felted owl! Steven is an artist and arts educator who creates hyper-realistic needle felted sculptures. Whether you're a beginner looking to explore a new medium or a more experienced felter looking to hone your skills, this workshop is sure to be fun and educational. Participants will be guided step by step using simple shapes, to create a unique and lifelike owl.

Steven offers more advanced workshops for those who wish to continue their felting education further, but for the purposes of the Tett is offering this beginner-level, lower cost opportunity.

 

About needle felting

Needle felting is the process of transforming wool into 3D objects using a barbed needle. When you felt wool, you agitating the fibres so they bond together, creating a solid fabric.

Biography

Steven Botelho grew up near Toronto ON and studied art all his life. He graduated from Sheridan College as an illustrator, and has been recognized from his work in all areas. He has illustrated numerous children's books, his love for chalk pastel brought him endless work as a wildlife artist, and has created puppets for stage shows and theater productions, and now recently started his own called Our Space. His recent love for needle felting has broadened his talents in art, and has been teaching this craft for many years. His 3D felted animals are so lifelike and he has been teaching students all over the world. 

 

Steven is also a stage performer and Director, and has been involved with musical theater for the past 12 years. Having received many awards and nominations for his stage work, he shares his knowledge and experiences with his dramatic arts students in hopes they can grow and fulfill their passions as well.

 

Loving all areas of art, Steven has come to understand his talent on many levels by pushing himself to achieve his dreams and working towards his future goals. Steven wants to share his talent and knowledge with community and children, so that everyone can see how fun and amazing art in its many forms can be.
