Honouring the Word Warriors: Extending the Legacy of Indigenous Literary Creators

Please join us for a weekend gathering in honour of Indigenous Word Warriors. This gathering acknowledges the responsibility of carrying forward the legacies of our literary forebears in order to inform and strengthen contemporary artistic innovations. Come together with Nicola Campbell, Liz Howard, Conor Kerr, Emily Riddle, and Joshua Whitehead to celebrate a formative era in literary creation ushered in by literary creators including our six guests of honour: Jeannette Armstrong, Marilyn Dumont, Louise Halfe, Tomson Highway, Armand Garnet Ruffo, and Drew Hayden Taylor. This event includes a series of interviews pairing elder Indigenous authors with literary descendants, a performance of work written by the late playwright Daniel David Moses, and a roundtable discussion about the Indigenous literary scene in the 1980s and 1990s. Tickets include entry to all events, three meals on Saturday, and a continental breakfast on Sunday.
