Seasonal Fabric Swap

Intergenerational
Event
Malting Tower

If you sew, you probably have an infamous stash: that corner of your room (or closet, or bin, or all three) where fabric lives that you bought with the best intentions but haven't touched in years.

A fabric swap is the most satisfying solution:

  • Donate (ahead of time) what you're ready to let go of, browse (event day) and take home new-to-you items.
  • Don't have anything to donate? That's ok! Come after 12PM to explore the swap and take what you can use.
  • Donated? Get a ticket at drop off and come 'shop' an hour early at 11AM.

Think of it like a clothing swap, but for your sewing stash.

Everything is free. Entry by Donation (Minimum $5)

ℹ️ All funds support 2027 free Mending Clinics at Wild Bobbin and future free programming at Tett Centre

The goal is to keep fabric and useful supplies out of the landfill and give them new loving homes, where they can be turned into a wearable or usable item to enjoy for years to come.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  1. Decide what you’re ready to part with from your stash.
  2. Drop off your items ahead of time (dates below).
  3. On swap day, browse and take home “new to you” items.

Don’t have anything to donate this season? That’s ok! You’re welcome to still participate from 12 – 2PM and take home anything that strikes your fancy.

WHAT WILL YOU ACCEPT?

  • QUALITY garment and quilting fabrics, at least 1m in length.
(Big enough for a full project)
  • Fabric must be in USABLE condition, clean and neatly folded.
(No stains, rips or smelly items will be accepted)
  • Fabric must be LABELLED, with as many details as you can remember.
(Things like: where purchased, contents/type of material, quantity/measurement, name of designer/brand, when purchased, etc.)
  • Natural fibres are preferred, but not mandatory.
(We’d rather see fabric used than end up in a landfill.)

  • Books
(Relevant to sewing, techniques, embroidery, etc.)
  • Notions
(Scissors, needles, thread, buttons, zippers, etc.)

NOTE: We are NOT accepting any knitting or crocheting items for this swap; we may reconsider in the future.

Quality Control

We are only accepting donations that meet the requirements outlined above.

In order to ensure a positive experience for all attendees, Wild Bobbin reserves the right to deny acceptance of your material should it not meet the requirements noted. (Please don't bring any stinky, dirty things!)

Anything left over at the end of the event will be appropriately donated free to our community through a variety of organizations and/or programming initiatives.

Know an organization that could benefit? Please contact Wild Bobbin today to add them to a donation list.
