The Whole Shebang: The Tett Centre Grand Opening
One Show Only!

City of Kingston and The Tett Centre for Creativity and learning present The Whole Shebang: The Tett Centre Grand Opening – a FREE event on Saturday, January 31, 2015. The Whole Shebang will run from 1-3:30 pm, doors open at noon.

The newly renovated Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning’s Grand Opening, The Whole Shebang, is an interactive, family-friendly experience. After more than 18 months of planning, local artists, under the guidance of Andrea Nann, Artistic Director of Dreamwalker Dance Company, have created The Whole Shebang – an event that brings to life the creative and collaborative nature of the Tett. Every corner of the Tett will be alive with a diverse array of performance pieces, installation art, and optional participation.

Facilitated by Andrea Nann, explore what moves us and the traces we leave behind or take with us as we navigate new spaces and move from place to place. Expect the unexpected and revel, if you so choose, in the collaborative making and performance of art.

For those interested in an inside experience of The Whole Shebang, free community workshops are being offered January 27, 28 and 29, 2015 from 7-8:30pm in the Tett rehearsal room. These workshops will be led by Andrea Nann and provide community members with the opportunity to learn more about The Shebang Process and “the power of dance to share and revitalize our individual and collective stories.”

The Tett is the new home for eight local arts organizations: Joe’s M.I.L.L., The Kingston Handloom Weavers & Spinners, Kingston Lapidary & Mineral Club, The Kingston Potters’ Guild, Kingston Arts Council, Kingston School of Dance, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre, and Theatre Kingston. There are eight additional studio spaces – The Creativity Studios – which have been rented to local artists and three spaces are available to rent for special events: the rehearsal room, the gallery and activity space, and the state-of-the-art malting tower.

A City of Kingston initiative, with artists representing all eight tenants of the Tett, The Whole Shebang encourages artists and audiences of all ages to collaborate in the creation of a new community – the Tett community.
