Celebrate the incredible journey of wool from fleece to finished fabric with the Kingston Handloom Weavers and Spinners at this fun, family-friendly event!

Friday, August 7 – Spindle Fest
Discover how simple, portable tools transform raw fibre into yarn. Try your hand at spindle spinning through interactive demonstrations and activities that are fun for all ages. Spinning and weaving educational displays and demonstrations will also be available from 10AM to 3PM.

Saturday, August 8 – Sheep to Shawl Competition
Beginning at 10AM, watch skilled teams of five spinners and two weavers transform raw, unwashed fleece into a beautiful finished shawl. Experience every step of the process as competitors race against the clock, then stay for the judging of the completed shawls at 3PM.

Sunday, August 9 – Shawl Auction & Spinning Frolic
Don't miss the auction of the completed, washed shawls at 12PM, then stay for the Spinning Frolic, where spinners gather to showcase a variety of spinning techniques and projects, from yarn for knitting to fibres destined for weaving. Spinning and weaving educational displays and demonstrations will also be available from 10AM to 3PM.
