Introduction to Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom

Workshop
KHWS Studio - Suite 205
Weaver working on a loom.

Discover the joy of weaving on a small, portable rigid heddle loom! This workshop is perfect for beginners eager to learn weaving terminology and basic techniques, as well as for those with some experience who want to explore new methods and ways to use this versatile loom for sampling larger projects.

Rigid heddle looms produce minimal waste, making them ideal for special skeins of art yarn, handspun, or hand-dyed fibers. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a finished sampler or small project, along with guidance for your next steps in weaving.

Note: Looms will be pre-warped. This workshop focuses on weaving only. No prior experience required.

Beginner Friendly | Ages 18+ | Members - $118.65 (incl. hst) & Non members - $135.60 (incl.hst)

About

By day, Brandy Hyndman is a cancer researcher at Queen’s University. In the summer, you’ll often find them cycling outdoors, and in the winter, enjoying time in the snow. Brandy discovered weaving after taking the Rigid Heddle Weaving workshop at KHWS in 2018 and quickly became hooked. Since then, they’ve explored everything from plain weave to 4-shaft twill patterns, and are passionate about sharing the creative potential of these versatile looms with others.
