Tett Presents: Introduction to Professional Practices for Artists

Tuesday, January 29th 6-9pm | Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning

Join artist Gaetanne Lavoie at the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning for a comprehensive 3 hour workshop that will cover the basic necessities to begin your journey toward becoming a self-sufficient professional full-time artist! Become your own boss and begin to dictate how the market receives your work. Rather than the market dictating what you create, create what you want and learn how to market, sell and finance your art.

Thinking of your art as your business is an important milestone to developing your professional career, you are not only an artist you are an entrepreneur! Within these 3 hours you will learn about the importance of a website and how to navigate through social media as a tool for your business, i.e.: YOUR ART! Market and sell your work through the airwaves. Learn about how to get money to finance your art making through grants, government funding, competitions and more, and understand the importance of networking. Networking through social media sites, gatherings, exhibitions and so on. Believe it or not getting your name and face in the public is just as important as getting your work out there.

The goal of this workshop is to walk away with a solid foundation to begin your professional artistic career with; one that you can easily branch off from and continue to develop your art and brand locally, nationally and internationally.
